It was with genuine joy that I greeted the news of Michał Szymanowski’s first CD release. And so – here it is, for us to listen to, judge and exchange opinions.
We have made our best of the knowledge and skills that we possess, so that the pictures which first appeared in the mind of the poet, then – the composer, the conductor, and eventually – the choir, could also be reflected in the imagination of the listeners.

While recording this magnificent music we felt a bit like the musicians of Haydn’s orchestra 250 years ago. We are also a young ensemble wishing to demonstrate its abilities, and the work on the symphonies gave us genuine pleasure.
Preludes and Fugue and Double Concerto, works of maturity, though not yet of old age, are above all music for adults, whose appraisal requires thought, patience and restraint.
Works featured on this recording – composed over a period of thirty years – convey a compelling insight into the artistry and individuality of Rafał Augustyn’s music.
The second, more song-like theme is intoned by the woodwinds, after which the triumphant Maestoso returns, and the whole is rounded up by daring orchestral effects performed at a dizzying pace.
