We are pleased to present to you an extraordinary project – a reissue of the archival recording of Ludwig van Beethoven’s complete symphonies performed by the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir with the soloists: Izabella Kłosińska, Krystyna Szostek-Radkowa, Jerzy Knetig, and Piotr Nowacki, under the baton of Warsaw Philharmonic’s long-time director Kazimierz Kord. Recorded in 1994–1997 and first released in 2000, this CD set is an excellent way to mark the Beethoven Year 2020, in which the entire world pays homage to the maestro from Bonn on the 250th anniversary of his birth. Importantly, the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra is Poland’s
only orchestra ever to have recorded all of Beethoven’s symphonies.
In order fully to represent Maestro Kazimierz Kord’s artistic concept and the idea of this unique project, we have also printed here Bohdan Pociej’s essay that originally appeared in the CD booklet in the year 2000. All the biographical notes have been updated.
We hope that this new release, which recalls our artistic achievements from the past, will be a source of joy and satisfaction to our audience.
