A very interesting selection of pieces for guitar and a real panorama of the history of solo guitar music, from the old masters: Scarlatti and Dowland to the turn-of-the-century composers (such as Ponce, Sor or Turina) to the contemporary works of York (an excellent guitarist and legendary member of the Los Angeles Quartet) and two Dutch, Gall and Boelaars, who have dedicated their compositions to Robert Horna. To all these pieces the above-mentioned artist has added two by Astor Piazzolla, enormously popular with classic guitar lovers: Milonga del Angel and Adios Nonino, in the original version and in Horna’s own arrangement. Thus both the program and the performance are of very high quality. Horna, a Polish-born guitarist living in the Netherlands, is a successful concert performer all over the world. He is receiving excellent reviews and applause from audiences. Guitar music lovers will hardly need encouragement. For others the record may be a start of a new fascination.
