Made his debut in the `Poznań Nightingales’ Choir and studied at the Poznań Academy of Music under Antonina Kawecka. Prize winner of singing competitions in Bytom (1st Prize and 12 Special Awards), Moscow (2nd Prize and Special Award) and Vienna (1st Prize and 11 Special Awards, 1990). His embarked on his career in 1989 at Poznań Opera where he made his debut in the title role of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, a role he later performed in the opera houses of Barcelona, Berlin, Frankfurt, Lille and Leipzig as well as at the Glyndebourne Festival, which was recorded for Television and released on video and DVD by Warner Bros. His repertoire includes such parts as Figaro in Barber of Seville, Papageno in the Magic Flute, Almaviva in Marriage of Figaro, Guglielmo in Cosě fan tutte, Escamillo in Carmen, Malateste in Don Pasquale, Golaud in Pelleas and Melisande, Richard IV in The Puritans, Posa in Don Carlos, Germont in La traviata, Tomsky in Queen of Spades, Robert in Iolanthe and title roles in Don Giovanni and King Roger. His repertoire also includes operas by contemporary composers: Peter Eötvös, Victor Ullmann and Kurt Weill. He has sang in the opera houses of Brussels, Paris, Lille, Lyons, Barcelona, Frankfurt, Berlin, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Stockholm and Tel Aviv and has given concert performances in Berlin, Montreal, New York, Geneva, Dublin and Warsaw. He has taken part in many prestigious music festivals and has recorded on CD, for Radio and Television both at home and abroad. Since 2000 he sings the title role of Szymanowski’s King Roger at the Polish National Opera, for which he received the A. Hiolski Award, and from 2004 the title role of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin.
