The Polish Radio Chamber Orchestra
Amadeus

Established in 1968 by Agnieszka Duczmal, it remained initially under the patronage of Jeunesses Musicales and later the Poznan Music Society. The winning of the Herbert von Karajan Silver Medal at the International Meetings of Young Orchestras in West Berlin in 1976 was a turning point in the career of the group. In 1977 it was transformed into the Polish Radio and Television Chamber Orchestra and next (1988) into the Polish Radio Chamber Orchestra “Amadeus” with Agnieszka Duczmal as its managing and artistic director. Together, the musicians have toured most European countries, the USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Kuwait, Japan and Taiwan, often with famous soloists (e.g. Maurice André, Martha Argerich, Haokan Hardenberger, Steven Isserlis, Krzysztof Jakowicz, Gary Karr, Kevin Kenner, Konstanty Andrzej Kulka, Mischa Maisky, Jeremy Menuhin, Malcolm Messiter, Michala Petri, Alexandre Rabinovitch, Jadwiga Rappé, Vadim Repin, Henryk Szeryng, Krzysztof Szmyt, Guy Touvron, Gheorghe Zamfir.
