Łukasz Długosz

Acclaimed by critics as “one of the most distinguished flautists of his generation.” A graduate of the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich, the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris and Yale University in New Haven. Winner of many prestigious competitions, among others in Paris, Munich, Odense (Denmark) and Viggiano (Italy).

As soloist and chamber player, Łukasz Długosz performs in Europe, Asia and USA and collaborates with many renowned European orchestras. He is often invited to performances of Krzysztof Penderecki’s Flute Concerto under the baton of the composer. He has performed in New York’s Carnegie Hall, Vienna’s Musikverein and Koncerthaus, Leipzig’s Gewandhaus and Munich’s Gasteig-Carl-Orff-Saal and Herkulessaal. He has played under the baton of such distinguished conductors as Zubin Mehta, James Levine, Krzysztof Penderecki, Jacek Kaspszyk, Helmuth Rilling and Jerzy Maksymiuk.

His concerts are often transmitted by foremost Radio stations such as BBC Radio 3, SWR, BR-Klassic, Deutschlandradio Kultur, NDR, Radio France, Polskie Radio Program 2 and RFM Classic. He has made numerous archive, radio and television recordings as well as Polish and foreign CD recordings, highly acclaimed by Polish and European critics. In January 2010 he made his debut with the London Symphony Orchestra and with whom he recorded Michael Colin’s flute concerto Isles of Shoals.

A juror on the panel of international flute competitions, he gives master classes in Europe and Asia. For his outstanding achievements he has received a series of prestigious awards including that of Poland’s Minister of Culture and National Heritage Medal for Merit to Culture “Gloria Artis” and Germany’s Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, Gasteig Musikpreis and ZEIT-Preis. A made for television film about the artist was financed by the National Bank of Poland and aired by Polish Television (TVP 1 and TVP Polonia).
