Rafał Augustyn (b. 1951) – a composer and music critic; a university lecturer and scholar working in the fields of culture and theatre studies (formally educated as a Polish philologist); a translator; a rare polymath judging by his interests and activities and a virtuoso by virtue of his talent(s). A connoisseur of surprising and witty phrases in Polish, he can also juggle with foreign languages and write splendid letters. On some occasions, he performs piano parts in his own works. To music performers, he is a respected partner, open to their ideas and suggestions.
