Ryszard Wróblewski

l Studied under Eugeniusz Sąsiadek at the Wrocław Academy of Music and attended singing courses in Bayreuth and Wrocław (Wratislavia Cantans). Made his operatic debut in 1981 as Eisenstein in J. Strauss’s Die Fledermaus at the Grand Theatre Poznań, where he later also sang Alfredo in Verdi’s La Traviata, Belmonto in Mozart’s Abduction from the Seraglio and Count Almaviva in Rossini’s Barber of Seville. From 1984 he worked for ŁódŹ Opera and other Polish opera houses, singing among others Lensky in Eugene Onegin, title role in Gounod’s Faust, Damazy in The Haunted Manor, Ferrando in Cosi fan tutte, Pong in Turandot and Edrisi in King Roger. In 1989 he became a soloist of the Polish National Opera, since when his repertoire has expanded to include among others the roles of Pollione in Bellini’s Norma, Don José in Bizet’s Carmen, Loris in Giordano’s Fedora, Stefan in Moniuszko’s The Haunted Manor, Shuisky in Musorgsky’s Boris Godunov, Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly and Cavaradossi in his Tosca, Herod in R. Strauss’s Salome, title role in Wagner’s Parsifal, Riccardo in Verdi’s Masked Ball and Gabriele Adorno in his Simon Boccanegra. Between 1995-99 he also performed at the ‘Roma’ Music Theatre in Warsaw. He also has an extensive oratorio, cantata and concert repertoire. He has performed in Austria, Belgium, France, Spain, Israel, Germany, the USA and Canada.
