Jerzy Tosik-Warszawiak

Jerzy Tosik-Warszawiak was born in Cracow, Poland. He started playing piano at age 6. In 1977 he graduated from Cracow Academy of Music with „Magna cum Laudae”. Soon after Mr. Tosik won a competition for a teaching position in this institution.

Mr. Tosik is a recipient of numerous artistic awards and grants from Ministry of Culture and Art. and the Fryderyk Chopin Society in Poland. He was a top prize winner at 2nd National Piano Competition in Warsaw in 1974. He was a member of the Polish team for the 10th International Chopin Competition in 1980, where he was awarded honourable mention for competing in a second round.

Mr. Tosik has participated in several international pianistic festivals in Poland and abroad. He performed recitals in Poland, Czech Republic, Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Sweden, Italy and Iceland. He made recordings for the Dutch Radio and for Polish TV.Since 1992 Mr. Tosik resides in Iceland, where he is teaching and performing. In 1993 he joined the International Summer Music Courses in Głuchołazy (Poland) as Artist Teacher-Performer.
