Adam Zdunikowski

Born in 1966 in Warsaw, at the age of seven he joined the Warsaw boys’ choir “Lutnia”. He studied solo song at the Warsaw Academy of Music (with Roman Wegrzyn). In 1990 he made his debut at the Warsaw Grand Theatre as Clem in Britten’s The Little Sweep. Working on that stage, he has considerably extended his repertory (35 roles at present). Also in 1990 he formed a collaboration with Warsaw Chamber Opera which resulted in appearances at the Mozart Festivals (1990, 1991, 1996, 1998). Apart from Warsaw, the artist works permanently with the Bydgoszcz Opera Nova and the Krakow Opera, as well as guest-singing at the opera theatres of Poznan, Wroclaw, Bytom and Szczecin. In 1991 he received a mention at the 4th Ada Sari Vocal Art Competition in Nowy Sacz, Poland. In 1992 he won third prize at the 1st Moniuszko International Competition for Young Vocalists in Warsaw. In 1996 he began collaboration with the Hamburg Staatsoper, with which he next toured Japan.

Adam Zdunikowski has a wide oratorio-cantata repertoire and often sings in recitals. In 1997/98 he appeared in such major cultural events as the European premiere of The Psalms of Jerusalem by Noam Sheriff (under the baton of the composer), the world premiere of Stabat Mater by Stefani (under Grzegorz Nowak) and the performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony closing the 25th anniversary of the Sinfonia Varsovia (under Jerzy Semkow). In 1998/99 Adam Zdunikowski came into contact with the theatre Narodni Divadlo in Prague.
