The CD ACCORD MUSIC EDITION record company was established in 1996 with the intention of creating a Polish phonographic label of the highest artistic quality both in terms of recording and editorial content. It features music spanning several centuries: from the Renaissance to premiere recordings of contemporary composers.
CD ACCORD records the most distinguished Polish composers, soloists, chamber ensembles, symphonic orchestras and choruses. The recordings are produced by top sound-recording engineers in the newest digital technology on equipment of the latest generation. Contributions from leading Polish musicologists guarantee a professional standard of commentary included in the albums while the visual aspect of the publications is entrusted to renowned graphic artists.
The quality of CD ACCORD recordings is recognised by music-lovers and music circles both at home and abroad. The companys recordings have received prestigious awards and distinctions, among others the Polish phonographic industrys Fryderyk Award, Studio magazines Record of the Year as well as nominations from leading foreign phonographic magazines including BBC Music Magazine, Gramophone, Diapason, Les Disques, and the Choc de Monde de la Musique Award.
CD ACCORD also collaborates with Polish cultural institutions at home and abroad, and has contacts with many well-known phonographic labels including Victor, EMI, Sony, Triton, Bridge Records, MMC Recordings and Naxos.
In June 2001 CD ACCORD was the first company to make a complete operatic recording using the SACD system a greatly rewarding achievement as the opera in question was The Haunted Manor by Stanisław Moniuszko. The recording, published by EMI Classics in London received enthusiastic reviews and enjoys the continued interest of music-lovers.
An important area of CD ACCORDs repertoire plan is Polish music works by Adam Jarzębski, Frederic Chopin, Henryk Wieniawski, Stanisław Moniuszko, Mieczysław Karłowicz, Karol Szymanowski, Grażyna Bacewicz, Witold Lutosławski, Andrzej Panufnik, Krzysztof Penderecki, Wojciech Kilar, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki and Paweł Szymański.
