Roman Rewakowicz
A graduate of the Warsaw Academy of Music (theory of music, conducting and composition). For many years he was involved in choral singing. From 1983 he ran the male voice choir ‘Zuravli’ with which he toured the USA, Canada, Western Europe and Ukraine. He founded the chamber choir ‘Irmos’ performing early Orthodox church music. He currently conducts symphonic and chamber orchestras in Poland and Ukraine, the National Orchestra in Kiev, the Philharmonics of Dniepropetrovsk and Lvov, the National Opera Orchestra in Kiev, the Polish Radio Orchestra in Warsaw, the Symphonic Orchestra of the Silesian Philharmonic, the Chamber Orchestra “Capella Bydgostiensis”, the Chamber Orchestra “Lvov Virtuosos”, and others. He is also artistic director of the Lvov Sinfonietta, which specializes in contemporary music. He is a co-organizer of the Festival of Contemporary Music “Contrasts” in Lvov, noted for premieres of works by Yuri Laniuk (Musique pour Recherche), Igor Shcherbakov and Edward Sielicki, as well as for Ukrainian premieres of works of Witold Lutosławski, Krzysztof Penderecki, Andrzej Nikodemowicz, Arvö Pärt and others.
