GENRE: vocal recital
Mieczyslaw Karlowicz (1876-1909) wrote his songs early on in his career. They painted subtle moods with a good deal of the fin-de-siecle melancholy. The hymns by Karol Szymanowski (1882-1937), written to the great poems by Jan Kasprowicz, are true masterpieces with a huge emotional load in the text. The last five songs composed by the greatest Polish modern composer Witold Lutoslawski to the lyrics of a well-known poet Kazimiera Illakowiczowna take us into the world of a child’s imagination.
A nomination for the Fryderyk ’98 award. The world-famous vocalist Ewa Podles accompanied by Ewa Poblocka displaying her virtuosity presents Polish lyrical songs in an interpretation full of expression and rich in tone colour. [Kaleidoscope]
