Rafał Siwek

A graduate of the Warsaw Academy of Music where he studied under Jerzy Knetig. He also attended master class course given by Alexandrina Milcheva, Ryszard Karczykowski and Christian Elsner and at present works with Kałudi Kałudov. He has won prizes at the International Moniuszko Vocal Competition in Warsaw (2001), the Belvedere Competition in Vienna (2001) and the Competizione dell’Opera in Dresden (2002). He made his operatic debut as Ferrando in Verdi’s Il Trovatore at Wrocław’s People’s Stadium and later in the same role in Varna Opera (Bulgaria). Since 2001 he has been a soloist with the Warsaw Chamber Opera where he has sung Sarastro in Mozart’s Magic Flute and the Commendatore in his Don Giovanni, Prince Gremin in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and Don Basilio in Rossini’s Barber of Seville, touring with the company in Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland and the Lebanon. He has appeared in concert at the Łódź Grand Theatre (Bellini Gala), in Varna and during the ‘Viva il canto’ Festival in Cieszyn. He also has an oratorio repertoire including Verdi’s Requiem and Dvorák’s Stabat Mater. He made his debut at the Polish National Opera as Prince Gremin in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, a part he also sung with the PNO during its visit to the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. At the PNO he has also sung the part of Skołuba in Moniuszko’s The Haunted Manor, Timur in Puccini’s Turandot (also during the company’s visits to Cyprus and Japan) and Lodovico in Verdi’s Othello. He has also performed the roles of Archbishop in Szymanowski’s King Roger at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, Timur in Puccini’s Turandot in Sofia, sung in Rossini’s Petite messe solenelle during Polish Radio’s Music Festival and given a recital at the Dreiklang Festival in Germany.
