Mieczysław Milun

A graduate of the Wrocław Academy of Music. He made his debut as Skołuba in Moniuszko’s The Haunted Manor at Wrocław Opera. Since 1986 he has performed at the Polish National Opera in Warsaw, with the exception of 1988-90 when he sung at the Badisches Staatstheater in Karlsruhe. His vast repertoire includes the roles of Lorenzo in Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Rocco in Beethoven’s Fidelio, Konchak in Borodin’s Prince Igor, Prince Gremin in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, title role in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, Woland in Kunad’s The Master and Margarita, Stolnik in Moniuszko’s Halka and the Standard-bearer in his The Countess, Sarastro in Mozart’s Magic Flute, Osmin in his Abduction from the Seraglio and Bartolo in his Marriage of Figaro, Nero in Nowowiejski’s Quo vadis, Lindorf in Offenbach’s Tales of Hoffmann, Moloch in Penderecki’s Paradise Lost, Bolkonsky and Kutuzov in Prokofiev’s War and Peace, Timur in Puccini’s Turandot and Crebillon in his La Rondine, Don Basilio in Rossini’s Barber of Seville, Mustafa in his L’Italiana in Algeri and Don Prudenzio in his Il viaggio a Reims, Kecal in Smetana’s The Bartered Bride, the Pharaoh and Ramfis in Verdi’s Aida, Ribbing in his Masked Ball, Philip II and the Grand Inquisitor in his Don Carlos, Zaccaria in his Nabucco, Ludovico in his Othello and Sparafucile in his Rigoletto, King Henry in Wagner’s Lohengrin, Titurel in his Parsifal, Fasolt in his Rheingold and Hagen in his Götterdämmerung. His also sings oratorios, cantatas, concerts and operettas and has toured widely with the PNO.
