Pawel Wunder. Born in Kazakhstan, he began his music studies at the Tchaikovsky School of Music in Alma-Ata, and in 1987 at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg, graduating in 1992. He made his operatic debut while still a student and between 1991-93 worked at Wrocław Opera and later for Cracow Opera (1993-2000) and the National Opera in Ostrava (2000-01). He also works regularly with other Polish opera houses and has appeared abroad in Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Germany and Hungary. His extensive operatic repertoire includes Don José in Bizet's Carmen, Lensky in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin and Hermann in his Queen of Spades, Canio in Leoncavallo's Il Pagliacci, title role in Offenbach's Tales of Hoffmann and Penderecki's Ubu Rex, Pinkerton in Puccini's Madama Butterfly, Cavaradossi in his Tosca and Calaf in his Turandot, Bacchus in R. Strauss's Ariadne in Naxos and Herod in his Salome, Radames in Verdi's Aida, Riccardo in his Masked Ball, Manrico in his Il Trovatore and Ismaele in his Nabucco, Loge in Wagner's Das Rheingold and Max in Weber's Der Freischütz. His repertoire also includes oratorio works (Penderecki's Polish Requiem, Dvorák's Requiem and Verdi's Requiem) as well as Neapolitan songs, and works by among others Tchaikovsky, Dvorák and Shostakovich.
